Party Time

Thursday, April 7, 2011

So you may remember my recent post about getting a KILLER DEAL on some graphics to use for my little guy's bday party here. I am going to be sharing some of the party fun with you over the next week or two. We delivered all the invites yesterday that I designed and I just thought I would share the artist's invite:

So obviously we are doing an artist theme for the party. I was out shopping for a bunch of the party goodies yesterday. I must say, I cannot wait! I might be just as excited for it as my little guy, who asks me every day if the party is today.

I have some fun cupcake toppers I have designed and a bunch of other fun birthday decor to share. Stay tuned. Have any of you ever done an artist party? Or are you planning another birthday party theme? Aren't birthdays the best??

Dino Party {Part 2}

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

I wanted to share the party hats today but I didn't get a chance to go get the supplies yesterday so I have a few other things to share. I put a new spin on the cupcake toppers...just in case you want round ones instead of just the dinosaurs. Here is a sampling:I also did a few tags for the gifts. Or it could be used as a tag for party favors. Here is one of them:You can download all of it here. I have also been contemplating some other ways to wrap gifts for a dino party. You could have a sandbox and hide the wrapped gifts in the sand. Have the birthday boy/girl 'dig' around for them like an archaeologist. You could also wrap some stuff inside a bucket with a shovel tied on it.

If all goes as planned, I will have some party hats and a cake post coming up soon too.

Dinosaur Birthday {Part 1}

Monday, April 12, 2010

I had a project all ready to show you today (you know the one I mentioned where there had been a few mishaps). But I decided since my little guy is turning 3 on Friday that I would dedicate this week to his birthday preparations. So that other project will just have to wait a bit longer to be shared....

I asked Hudson if he wanted to have a pirate party or a dinosaur party. He told me pirates with no hesitation. Then I said, okay pirates it is. No dinosaurs. He immediately said, no, no. I want dinosaurs. And he stuck with that. So we are going all out dino style!

I spent some time tonight drawing some dinosaurs in Photoshop. Then I colored them up and added some details to them. I figured these would make cute little decorations. Here is a sample of one of them:

And just for being awesome readers I thought I would give them to you too. You can download them here.

I am going to print them out and attach them to toothpicks to use as cupcake toppers. (Sorry I would show you pictures but my printer is apparently out of red ink.) I am putting them on here for you in case you have a dinosaur party in your future too. I will have some other fun birthday stuff this week...hats, wrapping, maybe some invites and of course a cake to name a few.

Go Digi

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

A lot of big scrapbookers have stayed true to the paper aspect of scrapbooking, but there are also a lot (and some newbies too) who have delved into the world of digi-scrapping. I have scrapbooked a bunch of things, but with my hubby in school and little ones at home, I found I didn't have the funds or the place to really dive into scrapbooking the way it deserved! So I took up digital scrapbooking a few years ago. It started out as just something fun to do but it quickly became something useful! I have used it to create digital scrapbooks for my kids, ones that can easily be reproduced for multiple copies. Plus, I make our Christmas cards and other holiday cards with it. I also use it to make invitations. I was recently asked to make an invite for something at church. I knew I was short on time and with only one car to get around, it is not always easy to get to the store. Plus, my kiddos have been major sickos lately which makes me feel like I am trapped inside!!

I decided rather than to make 70 invitations by hand, I would just design one with digital products I already had on my computer. Once you design it, you can have it printed as a 4x6 print for around 20 cents at Walmart, Walgreens or some other picture place.Back in the day, I was AMAZED at the plethora of sites online that carried free digital scrapbooking kits to get you started. There are some amazing things you can purchase too. But if you are trying to get started fairly cheap, there is hope out there! This invite did not take me too long once I got my vision going. Our theme is My Fair Lady so I wanted to do something a bit feminine.

So if you are interested in getting started in digital scrapbooking, there are different programs you can use. I use Photoshop, but I know there are trial versions online of Photoshop Elements and other less expensive programs.

A few sites to check out for digital scrapbooking are:
Two Peas in a Bucket, Peppermint Creative, Shabby Princess, Oscraps

Have you tried out digi scrapbooking? Any tips?
